‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's. You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf.--2 Chronicles 20:15 & 17
As we dug into the Word last night it was a moment where the Lord poured out sweet teaching! First, we explored the main characters in the battle Jehosaphat and his people fought. We could not fathom the faith that these people possessed, and yet we were tenderly moved, inspired, and encouraged by this story. I love digging into and seeing the character of all the players in these accounts!
What about our personal battles?
Proverbs 23:7 tells us that As a man thinks so he does. So, with that said, when someone makes you feel...angry, frustrated, misunderstood, betrayed, etc.., be careful!
Just because I'm feeling a certain way does not make it true. Instead, we must let our feelings become indicators that get us TO GOD, the ONE who desires truth in the innermost being.
God's Word tells us that HE will draw out our buried motives, thoughts, and deeds (Even things we don't know or admit to ourselves) out of the dark shadows of our hearts into His light.--1 Corinthians 4:5 (The Voice)
How do we know whose voice we're listening to?
Look at your fruit! Does it line up with scripture? Let's look at what Paul said to the immature believers of Corinth...
You are still living in the flesh, not in the Spirit. How do I know? Are you fighting with one another? Are you comparing yourselves to others and becoming consumed with jealousy? Then it sounds like you are living in the flesh, no different from the rest who live by the standards of this rebellious and broken world.--1 Corinthians 3:3
THERE'S HOPE!
Scripture gives us direction to grow up spiritually so that we can experience the fullness of our faith:
- Let your feelings be indicators that get you to God
- Once there, cry out to Him without holding back (Ps 77:1)
- Let the Holy Spirit draw out buried motives and deeds within you (1 Cor 4:3)
- Cry out for wisdom (James 1:5)
- Don't focus on the work God has to do in the other person's life...this is about YOU!
- Walk in your position: Cherished, loved daughter that has a heart of gratitude for all the He has done, is doing, and will do.
Next Week is our LAST meeting! I can't wait to see you for Tapas and Testimonies. We are going to celebrate all that God is doing and showing us through His Word!
